Couples Minute to Win It

I love games. So when I had to come up with what I wanted to do for my birthday I thought it would be fun to have a game night. I saw a Minute to Win it date here and loved the idea. Kirby and Kendra were so sweet to plan out all the games for us. Here is the run down on the evening. I basically stole this whole thing from Kendra's blog because she did a great job of explaining everything and I wanted to document it here. Everyone brought lots of yummy food and we met at the park so our kids could run around while we played. A big thanks to Lindsay, Kate, Beth and Elizabeth for taking care of our children!

Here are the teams:

(Well both the Hubby's couldn't come so it ended up being the Hot Wives Club)

Birkenfelds: It's Already Won

Sutterfields: Sugar Turds

And the Games: Each game of course has to be done in less than a minute.

 Breakfast Scramble:
Assemble the front of a cereal box that has been cut into 16 even pieces.

Penny Hose:
Begin with panty hose on your wrists, retrieve penny for the end of pantyhose without hands or forearms coming into contact with any other body part. If penny touches the ground, the game is over.

Bite Me:
Pick up 5 paper bags of varying heights using only the mouth and placing them on table. No part of body, except feet may touch the ground.

Bucket Head:
Catch 3 tennis balls in bucket on top of head. One partner bounces it from the ground to the wall, and the other catches the balls in the bucket.

Egg Dance:
Balance 2 raw eggs on 2 separate serving trays (held upside down) and transport them to a final destination without dropping. Any dropped eggs result in game over. (Cody was AWESOME at this!)

Face the Cookie:
Using only the face, move cookies from forehead to mouth. If cookie gets to the mouth, you must eat it in order to receive another cookie. Receive one point for each cookie.

Ready Spaghetti:
Using a shared spaghetti noodle and no hands, pick up soda cans and move to another table. One point per can moved.

Junk in the Trunk:
Wiggle a box that is attached to your waist filled with ping pong balls until the box is empty. No hands allowed.

And the winners were: THE ULTIMATES!!!

We had lots of tired kids at the end but it was such a fun filled birthday!

Cherished Friends

On Friday we took a much needed day trip to Conroe to see our sweet friends, Josh and Kelly. They recently moved and we have missed seeing their sweet faces. There is definitely a void in our hearts with the Owens being gone.

We were also surprised at how close of a drive it was to see them. It is so crazy how fast the kids change in 3 months. Jack is now crawling super fast/almost walking and Riley is talking even more and able to do so much on her own. We just spent the day catching up and hearing what is going on in each others lives these days. The boys went outside to look at something and ended up being out there talking most of the day, not surprising for Cody.

We didn't take many "action" shots but we had to get a group picture of all of us before we left. We took a couple - self timer shots - and this was the one with most of the kids looking.

We love you Owens and are so thankful for you!

How Time Flies

One year ago today we were going to S&W to find out the gender of our precious little babe. Of course we didn't find out there but we got a good look at our sweet Chandler. I remember the sonographer telling me that his thigh was 1 inch long. I couldn't believe how much he was moving yet I couldn't really feel anything.

We quickly ran over the "secret envelope" to Kirby so she could make those fun little mystery cake balls.

Later that night we had a Gender Reveal Party with all our friends and we found out those cake balls had - BLUE - on the inside!

Here we are just one year later.

I also remember calling Kirby the next morning and telling her "I don't think I can be a "boy" mom". I am terrified of snakes and spiders and don't think of how I can make sticks into guns. She reassured me that I could do it and that I was going to love having a boy.

Man was she right, I can't imagine any other way!
I'm loving every minute of that sweet boy.

How time truly does fly.

Gig'em Aggies

Friday night we took Chandler to his first Aggie baseball game.

He was fussy on the way but immediately loved being outside. Took in all the noises as we walked from Reed to Olsen field.

No smiles - all serious business.

Loved standing in Cody's lap. As the night progressed he was more kneeling.

Watching those Ags.

What little man was starring at - all those bright lights.

Squeezing daddy's face.

Go Aggies!

Are you talking to me?

It actually got pretty cold but we had lots of fun. Chandler's eyes kept watering from the wind in his face. He loved smiling at the people behind us. He got a little scared once when everyone started beating on the bleachers but overall we had a great family night.

Thankful.

I have much to be thankful for yet I am grumpy and selfish most of the time.

It was one of those days - we had lots of whining and crying (as pictured above).

A day where you can't put your finger on any one thing but you just want to go to bed in the middle of the day and start over. Becoming a mom has brought the most joy yet shown me things about myself that I didn't even know. Sometimes I just sit here and think, how am I am I old enough to be a mom? I have no idea how to do this. Lots of feeling inadequate.

I was able to get away for an hour or so to celebrate a sweet friend and her baby on the way and was so encouraged and refreshed. I am extremely thankful for the amazing friends the Lord has graciously given me. I am also blessed by a husband that says, "Go, and your job is not to worry when your gone, I'll take care of it." and loves me well.

I was able to come home and enjoy this cute thing..

I mean seriously, what a cute boy? He hasn't quite figured out that the seat swivels. He loves looking backwards these days.

So thankful.

Update {7 months}

Chandler boy, you are becoming quite the busy little thing. You are managing to find a way to get around even though you aren't crawling. You can be on the floor playing and off your blanket within seconds. We love all your laughs and smiles. You love when your daddy makes funny faces at you - and love to make even funnier ones right back. You are beginning to figure out how things work: zippers, buttons, tags, cords, and more. We love this stage you are at, you are so fun.

At 7 months old, Chandler...
-is sleeping about 11 hours a night, from about 9ish pm to 8ish am at night and three naps during the day
-is breastfeeding (5x a day), solids (2x a day or so)
-weighs 16.4 pounds, 26 inches (we decided yesterday they took his measurements wrong at 5 months so we have been off a little) he is 20th % in all categories (head, weight, height)
-wearing cloth full time (medium setting)
-is still wearing some 3 month but is fitting into more 6 month clothes
-has a little more hair, not much more!
-is sleeping on his tummy, no more swaddle
-is rolling across the floor and even scooting by pushing with his feet
-is beginning to push up on hands and knees, no movement yet, just rocking
-is sitting up by himself
-had his first "solid" poo (I told some friends about this and they said I needed to document it) :)
-decided its time to actually "play" in the bath
-is becoming more and more vocal (hmm, baa, haaa, mmm)
-is recognizing and responding more to his name
-has two bottom teeth

Likes:
-to fake cough
-his pacifier (he likes to take it out and suck on the plastic parts as well)
-Sophie the Giraffe
-tags or his Taggie blanket
-jumping in his Jumparoo
-bananas and pears
-looking at himself in the mirror
-standing up, he is still very stiff
-rolling over from back to tummy
-looking around at anything new
-being tickled
-to try to grab your face
-putting things in his mouth (of course)
-being outside
-looking at books
-music
-trying to get "non" baby toys
-his paci

Let's Have Some Feedback:
1. If you have even gone looking for cute boy clothes you have probably been disappointed. 90% of the baby department is adorable little girl clothes. Where do you find affordable cute boy clothing?

2. How do you feel about socks/socks and shoes on babies who aren't walking? I've heard mixed opinions so lets hear some feedback. Also, on that note we are yet to find socks that will stay on (without shoes). We've tried J.C. Penny's, Old Navy, Gymboree, and some random hand-me down brands. Any tricks?
