College Station Shower

Ever been to a Milk and Cookies baby shower?
I hadn't but let me tell you, it was such a cute theme for a shower.

The hostesses had baked amazing cookies and put them in glass cookie jars.

I mean more cookie choices than anyone could ever want.

-Chocolate Mint Sugar
-Ranger
-Shortbread
-Oatmeal Chocolate Chip
-Chocolate Chunk
-Molasses
-Snickerdoodle
-White Chocolate Macadamia

Yum!

And there was a cute metal tub with glass bottles full of whole milk, 2% milk, and chocolate milk.

And we had these adorable Mason jars to drink out of.

Sweet hostesses:
Kendra, Kelly, Heather, Kirby, and Ashley

Prayer Cards

Kendra had made these adorable prayer cards for people to choose from. She printed them on photo paper and even made a cover sheet so I can put them in a photo book. This is something so special that our church does at baby/wedding showers. Whoever wants to picks up a card and we spend a few minutes praying for the baby/bride & groom before we open gifts.

Some gift opening...I didn't have as many as I thought. Most of them were candid shots and I am always doing something funny with my mouth or making a funny face. (like in the second picture)

And a few others...

Thanks so all the sweet friends who came. It was such a blessing!

Making Progress

So Chandler's nursery is coming along. Here is a crib preview. It is not quite finished but making progress.

And I had to post these two other cute things.

Now he just needs to be here in those!

34 weeks

Pregnancy Highlights for the Week:

How Far Along: 34 weeks (8 1/2 months)

Fruit/Veggie: the weight of an average cantaloupe

Size: about 18 inches and about 5 pounds

Baby Changes: Chandler's fat layers — which will help regulate his body temperature once he's born — are filling out, making him rounder. His skin is also smoother than ever. His central nervous system is maturing and his lungs are continuing to mature as well. His tiny fingernails have probably reached the tips of his fingers by now.

Best Moment this week: getting to spend time with family on vacation; swimming, playing games, yummy food

Gender: precious BOY, Chandler Owen

Movement: His movement has slowed down this week. I can feel him moving occasionally but it is not as much as previous weeks. I guess he is feeling really tight in there.

Food/Drink Craving: water with limes, root beer (again), Fiber One Bars (Oats and Chocolate), candied jalapenos

Sleep: Getting harder and harder. Last night I woke up 3 times to use the restroom. Nice, getting ready for the night time feeding, I guess.

What I am looking forward to: I made Chandler's bedskirt for his crib this week. I need to work on the bumper now. His glider is getting recovered and we are working on his wall decor.

Symptoms: About the same. I went on family vacation this week and traveling in the car for long periods of time is hard with the sore spot by my ribs. Some days it feels better than others. I am definitely more emotional these days.

33 weeks

We had a bridal shower for Ashley this week
(see more details below)
Kirby, Ashley, Me, and Kelsey

Sorry there is no belly picture this week and it is late. I left for family vacation and didn't get it posted before we left.

Pregnancy Highlights for the Week:

How Far Along: 33 weeks (8 months)

Fruit/Veggie: well I know this isn't a fruit or veggie but I thought it was funny, he is the weight of a grown up duck

Size: 17.5 inches, 4.5 pounds

Baby changes: This week Chandler weighs a little over 4 pounds (heft a pineapple) and has passed the 17-inch mark. He's rapidly losing that wrinkled, alien look and his skeleton is hardening. The bones in his skull aren't fused together, which allows them to move and slightly overlap, thus making it easier for him to fit through the birth canal.

The big news this week is lung development—Chandler's respiratory system is almost completely mature. That means if he was born this week, odds are he'd be a healthy bouncing baby with a just a little help from his friends (aka, the NICU).

Chandler can now detect light and tell the difference between night and day. His pupils will constrict and dilate in response to light.

Best Moment this week: I finally bought ALL the fabric for Chandler's room! I don't know if this was the best moment but it felt pretty great.

Gender: precious BOY, Chandler Owen

Movement: He is moving still moving some, I think he might be slowing down.

Food/Drink Craving: water with limes, diet DP, chicken, chocolate/ice cream, Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal, chips and salsa from Fuzzy's

Sleep: Okay this week, vacation next week we will see how it goes.

What I am looking forward to: making Chandler's bedding, finishing his room

Symptoms: I have felt really good again week beside having that sore spot by my ribs. It feels like someone is stabbing me!

Here are some pictures from Ashley's "black and white" Bridal shower.

Isn't this cute?? This was all Kirby. You can find a tutorial on how to make one here.
And here is the table with the cute flowers we made. Here is a tutorial but we really didn't follow it for the flower making, we kinda made up our own.
Kelsey made these yummy cookies!
Dirt Cake= YUM!

8oz. cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup margarine, softened
1 cup powdered sugar
2 small pkg. of vanilla pudding
3 1/2 cups of milk
12 oz. Cool Whip, thawed
20 oz. package of Oreo cookies

Mix cream cheese, margarine, and powdered sugar. Set aside. In another bowl mix pudding and milk, set aside 5 minutes, add cool whip and cream cheese mixture.

Put Oreo cookies in the food processor and mix until crumbs are fine. (save a few sprinkles for the top)

Layer in bowl: oreo, pudding, oreo, pudding (I usually just look and see how much instead of measuring). If you want you can save some cool whip for the top. Either way sprinkle some Oreo crumbs on top.
Cool before serving.
Oreo balls/Chocolate Covered Strawberries

Oreo balls
(25-30 balls)

1 pkg. of Oreo cookies, crushed
8 oz. cream cheese
1 pkg. white chocolate/chocolate

Mix oreo and cream cheese
Roll into balls
Chill for 1 hour

Melt chocolate, dip ball in chocolate
Let cool on wax paper
(takes about 15 minutes for chocolate to harden)

I put some chocolate (opposite of what I dipped them in) in a plastic bag and cut off the corner to drizzle over the top when they were all done. (optional)

Kirby made this. It was AMAZING!

Chocolate Chip Pound Cake

1 box yellow cake mix

1 small pkg. vanilla pudding
1 small pkg. chocolate pudding
1 1/4 c. water
1/2 c. oil

Mix together.

Add 4 eggs
1 1/2 c. chocolate chips (6-oz. pkg)
8 oz. sour cream

Heat oven to 350. Pour all into a greased bunt pan. Cook 50-60 minutes.

Dresser Redo

As most of you know I found a cute dresser last weekend at a garage sale. It doesn't really look bad from pictures but it needed a redo. It looked like someone had tried to touch it up with spray paint which didn't exactly match the original color.

So, Cody comes in the house on Monday and says "hey I was hoping you would want to help me sand this dresser". Well, lets put it this way I am pretty sure I have never sanded anything to my knowledge. :)

I decided to help him even though I was really worried about messing up my nails that I just got painted this weekend. He assured me that I was using a hand sander and that unless I put my fingernails under the sander they should be fine!

After I got done sanding the big surfaces Cody came back with sandpaper and did the edges for me. Then he got busy on using his handy paint sprayer.

Here is what it looked like when we got done.

And it fits perfectly in his little room!

Cute Little Parker

Last night Parker (our nephew) came over to our house to play for a little while. He is growing so much and starting to talk so much more. Let's say he is VERY good at saying "mommy" and "daddy, truck". He associates my brother with a truck since he is a UPS driver. He LOVES trucks.

I am sure these magnet sticks aren't age appropriate for him but I was sitting right there with him and let me tell you he loved them. They were in a little container from school and he kept taking them out, putting them on the floor, and then picking them up again. He was so cute trying to get that red lid to fit on the top. We probably did that game atleast 10 times.

He also loved my cell phone. You can't actually type numbers since it is a slide phone so it was great. He carried it all around not to mention sitting in his "favorite" chair. He kept saying "daddy truck" with the phone so we ended up calling Caleb at once point and Caleb would ask him questions and he would just shake his head to respond.

I'm telling you he really liked his box. :) And he figured out that he likes sitting on the fireplace too!

And last but not least Cody came home! Parker thought he was so funny. In the 20 minutes they played Parker maybe caught his breath 1 time. He was running, drooling, and eventually got the hiccups from laughing so hard. I was sitting across the room laughing at them laughing at each other.

It's going to be so fun to have such a wonderful daddy around our house!

Dallas Shower

This past weekend our family and friends had a baby shower for us in Dallas. It was such a great time to catch up and see people that have been such an important part of our lives for many years.

My Aunt Thena booked this family favorite restaurant in Dallas to have the shower. She ordered an amazing cake, cheesecakes, and strawberries for us to enjoy. It was in a perfect little room. *Also, the cute little girl in the picture is my cousin, Anneke who came from Austin for the shower. When I got to the shower Anneke had some handpicked pink flowers for me.

My sister in law, Ashley made these adorable "Mommy encouragement/advice" cards for everyone to write on that she is going to put in a scrapbook for us. (I don't have these yet to picture!)

Miranda, Me, and Ashley

My sweet friend, Miranda made these adorable diaper roll center pieces with animals sticking in them, precious "seed" party favors, and had cut out all my weekly post pictures for decor. :)

Here are some other pictures from the shower.
