Pregnancy Highlights for the Week:
How Far Along: 40 weeks
Fruit/Veggie: He is now the weight of a mini watermelon.
Size: (birth weight) 7 lbs 20 in
Baby Changes: There have been lots of changes this week for little Chandler. I'm sure he wishes he was back in the warm quiet tummy. He has really been doing great with all the changes.
Best Moment this week: Of course his birth, August 1. Its a long story of course.. I am going to type everything out for our record, feel free to skip. :)
It started on Friday, July 30, around 4pm I started getting a headache. I hadn't really had any headaches recently so I thought it was a little strange. My doctor had told me to let her know if I had any since my blood pressure had been high on Tuesday. I went by Walmart to check my blood pressure and it was high so I called the L&D nurses at St. Joe's and they said to take Tylenol and rest and see if it got better.
So on Saturday, July 31, I woke up and still didn't feel good. I felt light headed and kinda dizzy. I called Cody at work and told him and we decided that we would go get my blood pressure checked when he got home from work.
We went to St. Joe's around 1:00pm (without eating lunch, bad mistake). They took me up to L&D and monitored me and Chandler for about 40 minutes or so. After that the on call Dr. came to tell us what she thought. She basically said that my blood pressure was consistently high and that they would have to have a good reason not to deliver since he was 39 weeks and 3 days. Basically we knew we wouldn't be going home! At this point I was only dilated to 1cm.
At about 3:00pm they moved me to a L&D room (#10) and started my IV and gave me medicine to help thin my cervix.
At 7:30pm I was dilated to a 1 1/2cm and they started giving me pitocin.
At 9:40pm I was at 3cm and since they knew I would be having the baby and not going home they let me have my epidural. I ended up getting it about 10:45pm and took about 20 minutes to take. After that we tried to get some rest but I started to have lots of pain in my back. They ended up giving me more pain meds in my epidural. It was much better after that.
At 11:30pm I was at 5cm.
At 1am on August 1, I was at about 8cm. At this point for some reason my epidural stopped working so great and I started to feel lots of pain in my stomach during contractions.
At about 2am I was at 9 1/2cm but had a little bit to go before I could start pushing.
At 3pm I started pushing during contractions and my water finally broke at this point.
At about 5:30am the Dr. came in and told me that we were needing to get the baby out soon since his heart rate was dropping. His head was face down but it was slightly tilted to the side causing him not to drop completely down. They ended up having to use the forceps to get him out.
At 5:46am Chandler Owen was born!
Gender: precious BOY, Chandler Owen
Movement: He loves to move his hands. His hands almost always stay right by or in his face.
Food/Drink Craving: lime/strawberry popcicles, chicken salad from Jason's, fruit
Sleep: Well, Chandler's sleep is hit or miss at this point. We are still working getting him on a routine. Right now he has the hardest time from about 11pm-2am.
What I am looking forward to: My mom is coming tomorrow so it will be a great help to have her here for the week.
Symptoms: My blood pressure is still high and my body is still showing signs of "preeclampsia". We are praying everything would return to normal quickly.
