Happy 1 week in our new house!

I can't even begin to describe the events of yesterday but I will try. I awoke to Cody telling me not to use either toilet, one was leaking water and one was stopped up. He tried to use the plunger before work but it broke so he ran to Wal-mart to get a new one but it didn't help. So, he asked me if I could go to Home Depot to get a toliet auger (I didn't even know these existed). They do!

I watched 2 videos online on how to do it and worked up enough courage to try it. It didn't work. Nothing came out! I still couldn't use the restroom in either toilet! So, I ran a few errands and came home. I looked in our master bathroom and the floor and toilet had black goo all over it and the carpet by the bathroom was a little damp. I called Cody and he said he would be home in an hour for lunch.

Cody got home and looked and the bathtub had filled up more with sewer goo and water was starting to accumulate on the floor. Within 20 minutes the whole bathroom floor was standing in water. Cody tried to ShopVac it out but it was seriously coming back in as fast as he could! His hour for lunch was almost over...what was I to do...except call someone to help me. So, I called Jeremy and he said he could come, little did I know Candice had took off the afternoon from work. They both came like awesome friends and helped me through the craziness.

We found the sewer drain in the backyard and took off the top and it started coming out everywhere. It quickly drained both of our bathroom tubs and floor. We called the city and they came out since it was actually beyond our property. Their hose got stuck in the drain and had to tie it off in our backyard and are coming back today to take down our fence to get their machines in to get the hose out.

Also, our carpet was ruined with all the sewer water so I called a carpet cleaning person and she said it would have to be torn up. She brought 4 superduty fans for our room to dry everything out.
Heather would have loved to sleep in our room last night! It is seriously so loud from all the fans. Our bathroom cabinet won't even stay shut it is so windy in there. Here are some pictures of our not so beautiful room now...

Have you ever noticed mailboxes?

I didn't, until we bought this house. When I saw this one it soon ranked close to top priority. It didn't rank very high on Cody's house priority list (he has many other big things he wanted to get done)..but he still did it for me. :) People would stop by to see our house and say, "Oh, I really like your mailbox" real sarcastically. It was that awesome. We took a few photos to remember it by and we have a lovely new one.
Lovely spraypainted numbers on the side.

This one didn't even completely open so you had to break your arm just to get the mail out. I haven't figured out why you need your mailbox in a box... go figure.

Yay! It is beautiful and doesn't stick out like a sore thumb in front of our cute house!

The WALL

So, we have been pondering for weeks what to do with this lovely wall in front of our entire house. Cody, Jeremy, and Kyle worked all day yesterday on it and I still can't believe how great it looks now. Sorry these pictures are a little out of order. I have tried again and again to get them sequenced correctly and I can't get it to work. The boys are working on finishing it out today with the top bricks but here are some pictures from yesterday!

More to come...

Applique Onesie

Kirby, Kendra, and I got together last week for a craft/sewing day. I have been wanting to applique onesies for a while but I don't have a sewing machine and I didn't know how to do it by hand. Kendra graciously taught me how to do this! I used scraps from my raggy quilt to make the tie. The pattern is from this website.

I can't wait to make more but I thought this one turned out cute!

Happy 25th Birthday Co-Man!

What an amazing man God is shaping you to be. Twelve years ago I would have never imagined we would be where we are today. It has been so much fun doing life with you. You continually teach me through your wisdom, love, and passion for the Word.

Thank you for..
sacrificially loving me,
protecting me,
pursing me,
providing for me,
encouraging me,
and so much more!

I know you don't want this day to be all about you but know how thankful I am for you. You are amazing. Happy Birthday.
